Celebrated by millions around the world, the Hindu Festival of Colors, better known as Holi, made an impact right here on the 91免费福利网 campus Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Neither cool weather nor the threat of rain could stop one of the newest clubs on campus from celebrating together with their university community.

The Desi Culture Club was formed at the start of the spring semester and one of their first goals was to bring a Holi celebration to 91免费福利网.

鈥淚 hope people will start getting to know more about Indian traditions and the significance behind them,鈥 said Desi Culture Club President, Aravinda Murali. 鈥淚 just hope that people will learn more and be interested in joining the club.鈥

Holi has its roots in Hindu culture but has since spread to millions around the globe. Colored paints and powders are gleefully in thrown in crowds donning all white clothing. The paints in reds, greens, blues, and yellows, represent a sharing of love, new beginnings, natural remedies, and the Hindu god, Krishna.Hands covered in paint during Holi celebration at 91免费福利网

Aravinda says events like Holi are a great way to start conversations and break down stereotypes about different cultures, beliefs, and people. The Desi Culture Club has plans for several events in the future to share more from south Asian culture, such as Bollywood movie nights and cricket.

Students interested are encouraged to connect with the club on or by searching 鈥渦afs.dcc鈥.
